Privacy Policy

Gimbap is designed to respect your privacy.

What we collect

Only what’s needed for a licence, described under Licence. Apart from that, Gimbap does not collect, store, transmit or share any personal information, and it has no analytics or tracking of any kind.

What stays on your Mac

To work like the Dock, Gimbap reads things on your Mac, and only on your Mac:

This is used only to show your dock and its menus. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.

Licence

When you activate a licence, Gimbap sends your licence key and your Mac’s name to our licence server, which runs on Cloudflare and stores them. The name is there so a licence can be told apart on each Mac it’s active on, and so a Mac that’s set up again keeps its place. About once a month Gimbap checks the licence is still valid, sending the key and its activation ID. Nothing else is sent. Like any website, Cloudflare may log the request’s IP address under its privacy policy.

Deactivating a Mac in Dock Settings ▸ Licence deletes its name from the server.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Stripe and its Link service, which sell Gimbap on our behalf, under Stripe’s privacy policy. We never see your card details. We can see a record of your order in Stripe, including your email address, which we use only to help with your purchase. The licence server stores your licence key with a reference to that order, so a lost key can be found and a refund can end it.

Updates

Once a day, Gimbap downloads a small list of available versions from this website (hosted on GitHub Pages) to see if there’s an update. No information about you or your Mac is included in that request. Like any website, GitHub may log the request’s IP address under its privacy statement. You can turn update checks off in Dock Settings ▸ Updates.
